At 8:30 AM, July 12, opening ceremony of 2016 Xiamen University Intellectual Property Summer School was held in moot court, Xiamen University. This activity was sponsored by National IP bureau, Xiamen University IPRI, National IP training (Fujian) base, Xiamen University IP education and research center. Fujian IP bureau, Xiamen IP bureau, Longyan IP bureau, Xiamen Solex, Xiamen University Graduate School, Xiamen University admission office, Xiamen University logistic office, Xiamen University law school also support this activity.

Guests attending this ceremony include Mr. Teng Bogang, president assistant of Xiamen University, Mr. Lu Linbin, chief of Xiamen IP bureau, Mr. Guo Weijie, deputy director general， section of law and regulation, Fujian IP bureau, Mr. Zheng Xiaoming, international sale director of Xiamen Solex, Professor Lin Xiuqin, dean of IPRI of Xiamen University, Professor Zhu Yansheng, vice dean of Law School, Xiamen University, associate professor Qiao Yongzhong, IPRI of Xiamen University. Professor Zhu Yansheng hosted the opening ceremony. As an international summer school, all guests delivered their speech in fluent English.

Then, Professor Teng Bogang delivered a welcoming speech. Professor Teng welcomed 120 campers on behalf of Xiamen University. Professor Teng, Xiamen University is recognized as “Strong in the north”. It is the third summer school and he wishes a success of this summer school and a wonderful experience in Xiamen University.

Mr. Guo Weijie, deputy director general congratulated on successful opening of summer school, confirmed ongoing efforts and contributions of national IP training (Fujian) center, meanwhile, he also indicated that the number of patent granted increased sharply. Only in 2015, the numbers of patent granted increased by 62.77% than last year, and the number of invention patent increased by 67.25% than last year. Mr. Guo made a forecast for promoting patent quality, enhancing patent transfer and application, strengthening patent protection and management, boosting patent service development, promoting technology transfer and cooperation with foreign companies. He also recognized summer school not only a platform of IP study but also a platform promoting international cooperation. Meanwhile, Mr. Guo made a good wish to campers.

Chief Lu Linbin highly confirmed the fruits of IPRI to modern technology and economy, then he pointed out that IP global management is a meaningful revolution under the background of global development, economic globalization and cultural diversity. Currently, people and governments hope that IP global protection can be established and strengthened. Summer school plays a key role in promoting international cooperation.

Director Zheng Xiaoming indicated that trade and IP intertwine with each other under current background. Meanwhile, Director Zheng shared his opinions as to whether sharing or download the movie constitute infringement and how to deal with copyright issues based on daily life. He emphasized that students should understand what to do and how to do when studying IP.

Professor Lin Xiuqin briefly introduced the development path and academic fruits of IPRI, Xiamen University, and explained development trend combing historical heritage of Xiamen University. Professor Lin introduced that national IP training (Fujian) center is the only national base aiming on training IP talents by national IP bureau in Fujian. Base was awarded as excellent unit in annual review of national IP training center in 2015. Finally, Professor Lin summarized the opening ceremony and wished all campers cherishing this opportunity and returning fully loaded.

Curt Anthoy Polito, camper representative, made a wonderful speech. He showed love for Xiamen. He plans to learn Chinese courses and know about Chinese law. Only do as Xiamen people do, can he really understand what kind of country China is. Secondly, he loves traditional Xiamen cuisine-fried rice noodles and he indicates that this dish is highly attractive and boosts his study enthusiasm. What’s more, he emphasized that tea sipping is a must-do in China. Every sentence implies his love to China, Xiamen and Xiamen University. Finally he hopes that he can learn knowledge and earn wonderful experience in summer camp.

Opening ceremony was closed under the host of Professor Zhu Yansheng. After the ceremony, all students and teachers took a photo together.
